Exploring the realities of possible psoriasis cure

From a realistic platform or point of view it can be said that no once-off psoriasis cure exists. The best definition of a psoriasis cure is achieved through the sustained use of a treatment regimen that will eventually see a total eradication of the condition albeit for a period of time.
This is not to say that a permanent relief is impossible; indeed many people have claimed to have effectively gotten rid of the condition. Granted, however, that this condition is sometimes hereditary there can be no certainty in taking a ‘fully cured’ stance. What can be taken with certainty is the fact that different avenues to psoriasis cure are effective in different persons, and with these come associated advantages and disadvantages.

In attempting to get permanent relief from psoriasis, an affected person must as a prerequisite identify what form of the condition he/she suffers from. This will in turn inform the psoriasis cure avenue to pursue.

Five types of psoriasis exist, namely: erythrodermic psoriasis which makes the skin itchy and inflamed, inverse psoriasis whereby red smooth lesions form in the skin folds, pustular psoriasis whereby white pustules circled by red skin are exhibited, guttate psoriasis where the skin is dotted by minute red spots, and the most common of the five, plague psoriasis, which sees the skin being covered by raised patches of reddish skin that are covered by silver-white scales.

In making a diagnosis for a possible psoriasis cure a dermatologist will consider the type of condition, the extent of severity on the skin, location of the condition on the skin, the patient’s medical history and age, and what effect the condition has had on the patient’s physical and emotional health. With this done, the next step in choosing a psoriasis cure involves assessing the effectiveness of a particular treatment course, its safety, its side effects, and the time it would take to achieve results. All these factors must be juggled with from an informed platform such that the final psoriasis cure chosen for a patient will be optimally effective and with the least side effects.

In choosing the psoriasis cure suitable for the patient the dermatologist has three broad categories to consider. These categories are based on the severity of the condition. For mild psoriasis the advisable way forward is via topical treatment. Psoriasis cure for moderately serious conditions is mainly done via phototherapy where UV rays are applied to the skin. For the most severe cases dermatologists advise on systemic treatments whereby medication can be taken orally, via infusion, or injection.
